Event Details
The EBRD through its Legal Transition Programme (LTP) aims to develop a favourable investment environment via legal and regulatory reform. This event is one in the series dedicated to the publication of the LTP "Law in Transition" Journal showcasing a few of our most successful LTP projects. In particular, the event will feature projects described in the article, "Commercial mediation: experience from Moldova and Serbia". Both projects (in Serbia and Moldova) were implemented with our long standing partner International Law Development Organisation (IDLO), the only intergovernmental organisation exclusively devoted to promoting the rule of law and sustainable development.
The event will promote the role of mediation as a dispute resolution alternative for commercial disputes, touch on the subject of online dispute resolution (ODR), and its value during the pandemic due to courts working in limited capacity. We hope for a lively debate on a variety of questions and controversies connected to mediation such as: how to successfully establish mediation; should mediation be mandatory; should judges mediate; is mediation suitable for debt recovery, and how should mediation settlements be enforced?
